From Wikipedia: a shillelagh is a wooden walking stick, club or cudgel typically made from a stout knotty stick with a large knob at the top, that is associated with Ireland and Irish folklore.
In preparation for performing at the South Coast Celtic Fest, I asked dancers to name our dance troupe. The name Whirling Shillelaghs was selected, and that's how we are listed on the program. I suppose when we perform Israeli Folk Dancing at the annual Yom Ha'Atzmaut celebration we might need a new name. Maybe The Whirling Terpsichore.
