Dancing starfish - contra at the coast

On behalf of South Coast Folk Society, Jennifer organized a weekend camp out for the members of the open band. An open band is an all-comers band, any folks who want to participate in playing for a contra dance. The music was shockingly fabulous! For a group of folks who were playing almost all new music, it sounded tight - and most importantly, DANCE-ABLE!
Thirteen musicians, three callers and one contra line of 18 dancers. Thanks to the outreach efforts of Karen, we enjoyed the company of dancers from Eugene and Corvallis!
Camping was held at rustic Smith River RV park, which is better suited for RVers than those in tents. The newly-remodeled Smith River Grange Hall was a handy mile down the road. The grange is a fabulous place for a dance.
Dancers Jeff and Eva camped in style - with a tablecloth-clad lot of goodies!
